How to Understand What Frequency Your Phone Receives

We at Huaptec very often see the following situation: clients do not know what kind of frequency is used in their area. This information is very important as it helps to understand what problem with mobile signal exists. Knowing frequency and signal power, we can provide you with the best possible solution – propose you the booster that solves exactly your signal problem.

To know necessary information we advise you to make the following steps. They depend on what kind of mobile operating system you use.

  1. Option 1 – Service Mode menu for Android (Netmonitor)
  2. Option 1 – Service Mode menu for iOS
  3. Option 2 – Network Cell Info application for Android

We need to know frequency and signal quality (in dBm). The shown channel gives (table 1) information about the frequency your phone operates on. DBm information (table 2) tells about quality of signal and approximate number of bars.

To get this information, use a hidden application that every phone has. It is called Netmonitor. Each model has its own unique code (you just dial it) to activate it.
It depends on version). Please, check details about your code in Internet.
For example, in our case this is

  • *#0011#
  • or *#*#4636#*#*,
  • or *#*#197328640#*#*

Blue frameRX value  –  shows the channel. Thus, you can easily understand what signal you receive.

Green frame, RI value shows signal quality from a base tower.

Then you can use this link https://www.cellmapper.net/arfcn?net  to check which type of signal your mobile phone use or check it manually with the help of tables below.

Table 1. Frequency Distribution

This table helps to understand what frequency your phone receives. In the right column find channel (or its frames) that you see on your screen. The left column will show the exact frequency.
In this case it is clearly seen that it is UMTS 2100, because te value  10662  (see the picture) is from the interval Ch. 10562-10838 (line UMTS 2100).

Table 2. Signal and Its Quality

In this case it is -87 – not good, but not bad signal with approximate 3-4 bars (refer to the picture below).

Table 3. Signal Quality for Data
